I’ve managed to avoid writing a blog for 10 years now. Not because I don’t have plenty to say – those who know me are fully aware of just how opinionated I can be – but because I just didn’t have the time.
I’ve spent the time I could have been writing a blog learning about what to write. I’m a software engineer, and my career has spanned all kinds of industries: Internet communications protocol toolkits; investment banking; network and application security; pharmaceutical research; and global point-of-sale and e-commerce integrations.
I’ve hardly done it all. But I’ve done enough. And I think it’s time I start paying it forward with what I’ve learned.
The Blueshifter’s Blog will be a place to learn software engineering best practices, architecture, and general tips and tricks I’ve found to dealing with pesky problems that nobody else seems to want to document. Hopefully, what I’ve learned will help you shift your software.
Enjoy. And don’t forget to grab a drink. I can be downright long-winded.
